as promised, the dress I wore to Sis' wedding:

My trip was wonderful. Wil and I got star treatment everywhere we went. Meeting and spending time with my new brother-in-law, his family, and friends was very reassuring. They embraced us with so much warmth, kindness, and generosity.
The wedding was a grand and beautiful event. Wil and I walked our sister down the aisle, stood beside her, along with the groom, his sisters, and four lovely children...like one big happy family. Of course there were times I had to fight back tears....sad that my nieces and parents weren't there to witness and experience all that Wil and I had...knowing that all isn't so golden and easy back at home.
But seeing Sis happy, so loved, so adored, treated like a princess, and essentially living the life she so deserves put a lot of my concerns to rest. Before I left, Sis and I talked...the way we used to. After 18 months, I feel like I finally have my big sis back. We understand it's far from "happily ever after"...but I promised to do what I can to help her with my parents and nieces make a smooth transition.
Needless to say, I missed Aric and the kids like crazy. Especially when I saw cute little girls running around and twirling on the dance floor in their pretty dresses. But had they come along, I would not have been able to give undivided attention and time to my sister or helping out with last minute wedding arrangements.
Anyhow, it's good to be back (just in time, too)....my little one came down with a runny nose, and developed a fever last night. I need to fast....I think I gained 5 pounds from the long weekend (eating and drinking to excess). |
